A sumptuously decadent and gruesome 18th century desk caddy made from the skull of the Alchemist (in bone resin and with a polished pewter tooth) together with an antiqued pewter furnishing and with lift-off lid revealing the cranial cavity. Leonardo's "Last Supper" Casket. A beautiful Renaissance styled box with cabriole feet and a spectacular sepia enamelled bas-relief sculptured depiction of Da Vinci's "Last Supper" mural. The underside of the casket lid is engraved with Leonardo's sketches including Vitruvian Man. The casket measures 192mm long by 73mm wide and by 33mm deep (excluding the feet) and can take two packs of playing cards. Inside the lid it is inscribed with a verse from the Ingoldsby Legends written by the Rev. Richard Barham in 1840 recounting these dubious virtues.
